Serene Champagne is a 3/4 sister to
Grace Dancer. She is a classic champagne that, again, had little
contact with people. She came with the attitude "I am going to hurt you
before you hurt me!" Her experience with people was being
run into a round pen, into a stock trailer, vaccinated and wormed and
out again. She is a highly intelligent, bold but sensitive mare. I put
her where she could watch everything I did. All the training, grooming,
shoeing, etc. She watched intently. Of the three from Kansas, I left her
until last. I wanted to make sure she saw no one get hurt, and that the
other horses enjoyed their work with me, including her sister, Grace
Dancer. As she watched, she gradually relaxed, a few massages, and lots
of talking...."This is what I am going to do, I mean you no harm.
Sloooowwww and easy." |

She responded beautifully. Her feet had never been done,
had never been led, trailered, etc. I started taking her horse camping,
she had a blast following us freely. She is the horse on my Massage
cards. When I started riding her in Nov or so (got her in May) she had
tremendous stamina, sure-footed and brave! Bold! No trouble leading the
trail ride, looked at obstacles, then did them calmly. No spook in her
at all. Once she bonded to me, she followed me very where, knew where I
was at all times. I seem to have a talent turning difficult horses
around.
I sold her to Central CO this spring and I still miss her. She is in foal to
Champagne Showcase for a Feb/March baby. They should produce a
fabulous baby with mind, temperament, and gait galore. She has a very
long over-stride and, as she gains strength, it should be amazing. She is another one I will miss for a long time. |
