Debbie
started
with
TWH
by
going
to
a
clinic
with
Joe
Webb
back
in
the
early
70's in Arkansas.
Then
she
worked
with
the
Starwood
Ranch
in
Aspen.
Garfield
trained
many
2
and
3
yr.
olds
that
were
part
of
this
study.
They
had
close
to
30
mares
and
4 or
5
stallions.
Garfield
trained
for
them
for
almost
3
years
and
then
they
moved
the
study
to
Utah.
She
has
been
in
business
for
herself
most
of
38
years.
Garfield
has
been
to
numerous
clinics
herself
for
TWH's
and
learned
the
gaits
of
the
other
breeds
from
the
breed
associations
and
shows.
She
has
shown
TWH's
since
1970,
and
many
of
the
other
gaited
breeds
shortly
after
that.
Garfield
did
work
for
a
padded
barn
1
year
to
find
out
for
herself
if
in
fact
that
you
can
train
them
without
causing
them
pain.
Garfield
did
not
like
any
part
of
that
type
of
training,
and
have
since
then
only
trained
pleasure
horses
for
show,
trail,
driving,
and
versatility.
Garfield
has
trained
several
Supreme
Versatility
Champions,
has
done
clinics
in
Canada
and
the
US.
She
has
shown
at
the
International
in
Tennessee
4
times,
had
horses
place
high
in
most
classes.
A 2
yr
old
from
the
farm
that
she
trained
for
in
Palisade,
Co.
won
the
2 yr
old
Class
at
the
International.
Garfield
has
devoted
her
life
to
training
gaited
horses
without
gimmicks
or
devices.
These
horses
are
her
passion.
Garfield
served
on
the
THWBEA
Board
of
Directors
for
a
total
of
nine
years.
As
gaited
horses
have
gained
popularity
with
the
mid-aged
trail
riders
that
want
to
move
out
and
ride
without
the
bounce
of
the
trot.
Many
people
that
are
recovering
from
back
and
knee
surgeries
are
often
turning
to a
smooth
gaited
horse.
If
you
receive
this
note
more
than
once
or
would
like
to
be
taken
off
this
list
,
please
let
me
know
so I
can
update
and
remove
you.
