"Champagne Showcase"
Classic Champagne
Foaled 02/22/1993

Champagne Showcase is a smart,
athletic stallion, with very correct conformation. He Walks the Walk
and canters with the best of them. He is loving with people
and mares. Mares set the pace. He trailers and trail rides
like a perfect gentleman, no matter what the company. Color
is just the icing on the cake! Champagne Showcase has tested
EE, meaning he can ONLY sire black-based foals.

I was looking on
the internet for a possible future stallion and saw Champagne
Showcase....I was so taken with his beauty and "presence" I
requested a video. Upon receipt, I was drawn to his fluid
movement and deep backend. He shouted "Look At Me!" I showed the
video to respected horse friends, they agreed he had the quality
to be my herd sire. I didn't know anything about champagne, I
just fell in love with him. I begged, borrowed and stole to get
the money to purchase and ship him to Colorado. He arrived at
800 lbs when he should be 1100 to 1200 lbs in good flesh. His
hoof angles were all drastically different. He had been strictly
standing at stud, so I sent him to a friend of mine for
training.

|
We fed him up, he
learned quickly. He was bold, inquisitive, and forward moving. I
was thrilled. He took first place in a local show in
halter/model. On one of my first local rides with him, we stayed
late at a friend's house. It was getting dark and a 70 mph wind
was kicking up. I thought, "Oh No!" New horse, stallion, dark,
high wind, recipe for disaster. Tumbleweeds were blowing by at
my head height, huge piles were quaking and shaking in the lees,
blowing around and through his legs, he proceeded as though it
was an everyday occurrence. Calm and purposeful, we went home
with nary a snort or a spook. I was enamored. I trailered him
and trail rode him with mares, mares in heat, and he was the
perfect gentleman. No talking, unruliness, nothing. He would
"puff up", arch and walk "extra" just a bit to show off, but
that was it. I retired him to the breeding shed.
|
| What a guy! He is
never aggressive with the mares, takes his time to court them,
makes sure they are ready for him. One 17 year old maiden mare
would show, stand, then when he went to mount, would get scared
and squeal and kick. I finally just turned them loose together
in the round pen and he took 3 hours to court her and finally
breed her. I was so pleased. The mare sets the pace, not the
stallion. If the mare has a foal at side, I put the foal at her
nose on the other side of the fence so she knows the foal is
safe, then proceed to breed. I have had excellent success with
this procedure. |

 |
Casey
often plays through the fence with his foals, and
even with his 3 year old stallion son if he is in a
relaxed mood. We play in the round pen, he follows,
turns, dances with me. We have a great time. He
loves grooming and attention. I keep him with or
next to bred mares, he is in visual range of all of
the other horses. He leads as normal of a horse life
as I can give him. His babies show his mind,
temperament and stride. He is so beautifully gaited,
he does a slow rolling canter in the round pen at
liberty. What a beautiful sight. |
|
|
|
Another thing I
like about Casey are his diverse bloodlines. Ebony Masterpiece,
Mack K Handshaker, Merry Go Boy, Roger's Perfection, Midnight
Mack K, Merry Walker, Wilson's Snips Chance.....Who's who of
Who's who...I can bred him to anyone and not worry about too
much concentration in any one bloodline. I am not a big fan of
breeding too close of bloodlines. I believe we get genetic
faults that way. There are good reasons for line breeding, but
that needs to be done by better geneticists than I. So,
Champagne Showcase brings Heart, Mind, Gait, Conformation and
Presence to his foals and you can see on his Progeny page what
he passes on. Enjoy and thanks for visiting us today. Thanks to
Jack and Bea Kincaide for breeding this outstanding individual.
References available. Peace and health be with you.

It is
with greatly mixed feelings that I wish to announce
Champagne Showcase has found a new home. He has moved to
warmer climes and perpetual green grass with his own band of
mares. Deltona Gray of
Walk That Walk Ranch in Arkansas is his proud new
partner in life. He has been such an amazing and courageous
horse for me, it has been such an honor to have him in my
life. He is an incredibly kind and loving individual,
respectful of me and the mares. His even temperament and
thoughtful ways made him a joy to ride....truly a "glide
ride" with that awesome rolling canter that is such heaven
to ride. Never spooking, forward moving, safe and steady.
He passed these traits on to his offspring with his
tremendous heart, gait, mind, and bone. I know he will love
the green pasture which is non-existent here in semi-arid
Colorado. He is greatly missed but I know Deltona will take
excellent care of him and he will not miss these zero degree
days! He is in horsey heaven! Casey, you will always be in
my heart and thank you for the many gifts and lessons you
have given me.

Maxine,
Just thought you'd like to know that my 4 yo, 1/2
Peruvian gelding by Casey had his first saddling Sunday.
I added a large saddlebag pack with lunch and I ponied
him out on a 10 mile trail ride. No issues, no
problems...also, he can jump 3' logs like a TB.

Hope this is the right address!
I saw you with Champagne Showcase at your vet clinic
the other day, and I was VERY impressed with his
behavior. I have observed several stallions (more
than most people I know), and he was by far the most
well-behaved I've ever seen. He has better manners
that a lot of the horses I've met, including mares
and geldings! I admire the fact you put your
stallion(s) to use as more than a stud and expect
him to behave himself.
I was looking around your site, and I really like
it. I learned a lot, even taught a friend of mine a
thing or two! Thanks for the great resource!
